Matouk Bassiouny and AIH Law Firm joined forces in 2017 to create Matouk Bassiouny in association with AIH Law Firm, a full-service Sudanese business law firm in Khartoum. Algeria

Matouk Bassiouny, a full-service Algerian law firm in Algiers, offers an integrated and efficient service combining a true on-the-ground knowledge with international standards. Our teams in Algiers work seamlessly with our other offices in the MENA region (Egypt, Sudan, and the U.A.E.), enabling us to build on the expertise of our regional practice groups specialized in specific industries and legal practices.

Ahmed Tony

Partner

Ahmed is a Partner at Matouk Bassiouny UAE and a member of the International Dispute Resolution Group. A dual-qualified solicitor in Egypt and England & Wales, with 11+ years PQE in dispute resolution and litigation. Ahmed has diverse professional experience, working at local and international levels, in the private and public sectors. He is a registered Legal Practitioner in the DIFC Courts. He holds a Ph.D. from Cairo University and LL.M. degrees from Queen Mary University of London and Indiana University.

Before joining the firm, Ahmed worked at the World Bank in Washington, DC; served eight years as a Judge at the Cairo Economic Court and as a prosecutor at the Prosecutor General’s Office; and worked as an in-house lawyer for two years at Oriental Weavers Group in Egypt.

F. John Matouk

Founding Partner

John is the co-founding partner of the firm and heads the firm’s New York office as well as the firm’s Dispute Resolution Group, which has been ranked as a top 100 global disputes practice by GAR for the past 8 consecutive years. A New York-qualified attorney with over two and a half decades of disputes expertise in the Middle East and North Africa, John has vast experience advising on and managing complex cross-border disputes as well as commercial and investment treaty arbitrations in both local courts and under the auspices of major arbitral institutions.
