Berceste Elif Duranay

Elif is an international disputes specialist with extensive experience in high-stakes international disputes, enforcement of arbitral awards and foreign judgments, and cross-border asset recovery. She regularly advises clients on high-value, multi-jurisdictional matters involving challenging enforcement environments and sophisticated procedural strategies. Her practice focuses on international dispute resolution across the energy, mining, and infrastructure sectors, and she has acted in arbitrations conducted under the ICC, LCIA, ICSID, and CIETAC rules. At Duranay Law Firm, which she founded, she also represents clients before Turkish courts and provides strategic advice on Turkish law, complementing her international arbitration work with strong local litigation capabilities.

Before establishing Duranay Law Firm, Elif built a solid international career at leading global and Turkish law firms, advising multinational clients on complex commercial and investment disputes. She also spent a year at Mishcon de Reya in London. Prior to that, she served as in-house legal counsel at one of Turkey’s largest conglomerates operating in the gold mining, petroleum, and construction sectors, a role that gave her a nuanced understanding of large-scale projects and cross-border commercial operations.

Elif is the Secretary General of the Energy Disputes Arbitration Center (EDAC), where she plays an active role in shaping Türkiye’s growing arbitration landscape. In addition to her institutional responsibilities, she also serves as an arbitrator in international arbitration proceedings.
